WHAT IS COACHING?

Coaching is a series of conversations that propel you forward into whatever future you desire. You will have the chance to clearly articulate your vision and explore the passions that fuel this vision.  Then step by step we help you turn your vision into reality, teaching you the skills, habits, practices, and attitudes that will support the achievement of what you have in mind.

Most people find change – even positive change – difficult. Sometimes what we think we want is not what we really want at all.  Sometimes we fear success as much as we fear failure, and find ourselves resisting change in unexpected ways.  Your coach is skilled at helping you identify your true intentions and overcoming these inner barriers to success.

The coaching process can be used to generate positive change in any area of life – whether your concerns relate to business, career development, self-development, or personal relationships.

Every coaching conversation is designed to help you to do 5 things:

  1. Clarify what you truly want to see happen in your current situation, whether business, career, or personal.
  2. Figure out what might be preventing you from achieving what you truly want.
  3. Develop concrete strategies for overcoming these obstacles.
  4. Quickly learn new habits and skills so you can implement changes on a daily basis. 
  5. Evaluate progress , develop new skills, and adjust strategies and skill development to achieve your desired results.

What makes the coaching process unique?

Coaching helps you to articulate what is most important to you and your business, then learn to better use information, time, and resources to actually implement what you have in mind.

Coaching helps you to identify your unique obstacles to growth.  Then step by step, you will be able to overcome these obstacles by implementing on a daily basis the habits and practices that create a strong foundation for goal achievement.

INDIVIDUAL COACHING

Individual coaching is ideal if you:
  • are short of time
  • want an efficient, targeted approach to learning that is completely centered on your
    unique priorities and goals
  • need a regular appointment that keeps you accountable for achieving your goals
  • already know what to do – but need a sounding board and accountability
    partner to ensure you put your ideas into practice
  • have tried self-development programs before, but may have had trouble implementing
    them
  • have a highly creative, distractible, or non-linear thinking style, and find “the usual” approach to anything rarely works for you
  • value one-to-one learning

How does individual coaching work?

We work step by step to help you improve skills, habits and practices in the following
leadership areas:

  • visioning and goal-setting for yourself and your business
  • management of time, energy, and priorities
  • confidence and motivation
  • interpersonal relationships, influence, and team-building
  • innovation learning
 

We also help you develop strategies and skills in the 6 key areas of business
management:

  • marketing and sales
  • client / customer service
  • human resources
  • data management
  • finances
  • facilities

What does a typical session look like?

In person or by webcam, we sit down and figure out your immediate and longer-term goals. In subsequent sessions, we talk and strategize about what you need to do to accomplish these goals.  In every session, we check in and hold you accountable for what you said you would do.

 

Once we clarify your intentions and goals, we help you get to work on them right away.  Our sessions consist of any or all of the following:

  • review progress to date
  • listen carefully and ask questions that help you clarify issues and obstacles to growth
  • gently or directly challenge you to fulfill your commitments
  • identify new skills that need to be learned
  • identify projects that need to be worked on and flesh out plans for completion
  • teach you new skills quickly and efficiently, or provide resources that help you
    develop them on your own
  • provide support, encouragement, and cheer to get you on your way and keep you on track

How do I sign up?

  • We start by meeting in person or on the phone to get to know each other and determine whether there’s a “fit” between your needs and our services.
  • We consider how often it makes sense to meet, given your time and your budget.
  • Clients usually meet with us once a week, once every two weeks, or once a month.
  • Minimum service engagement is 3 - 6 months. We prefer that you sign up for at least one year of coaching services, since this is how long it takes most people to make any meaningful, lasting change in daily habits and patterns.
  • Payment in advance is required by credit card or post-dated cheque. By signing up ahead of time, you are sending a clear signal to yourself that you are serious about growth. This approach also helps us to keep money on the back burner where it belongs. Satisfaction is guaranteed. If for any reason you wish to discontinue coaching, we tear up or return unprocessed cheques or discontinue debits from your credit card.

GROUP COACHING

Group coaching is ideal if you:

  • Enjoy learning with other entrepreneurs who face similar business and life challenges
  • Want to benefit from coaching right away without a longer-term commitment.
  • Want to get a better sense of what coaching is all about

What does it involve?

  1. In-person. For those of us who still like to learn in the same room with others, workshops on topics related to business growth are held locally every couple of months in Waterloo, Ontario, about an hour away from Toronto in the heart of southwestern Ontario.
